The Space Game (TSG) is going to be released on The Casual Collective site next week! TSG is a single player strategy game that features 18 missions and modes of play. You build structures to create and store energy, you mine asteroids for their minerals, and use both to expand and defend your operation, all while under attack… well you are mining someone else’s asteroid field :o)
// Edit
TSG is now live! Click here to play TSG now or

Each mission starts the same, you find yourself in the middle of an asteroid field laced with precious Minerals. You build and expand by constructing Solar stations, Energy relays and Miners to extract the minerals from the rocks. As you expand you attract the attention of passing pirate ships which warp in to attack your structures. With Basic, Pulse and Tactical High Energy Lasers (THELs) as well as Missile launchers you must defend your mining operation and complete your mission.
If you would like to see the game in action please check out a youTube video we made which shows both the construction, mining and defending parts of the game. You can also see some other videos created by Casual Collective members who are currently beta testing the game.
We are aiming to launch TSG on The Casual Collective site next week and then release it onto other sites (such as Kongregate, Candystand and the Mochi network) a couple of weeks later. As with all our games, TSG will be free to play and distribute.

Hey guys,
TSG is an amazing game with an elegant design, but desperately needs one more balance pass to fix a gaping hole. Despite the guide telling you it’s better to upgrade than to build additional structures, the opposite is really the case.
This is particularly obvious with Basic Lasers. The best strategy is to never use THULs or Pulsars. Basic Lasers do more damage than maxed THUL or maxed Pulsar for much less than the cost, coves a wider area because you can build so many, AND the real kicker — you can recycle them at 100% value so they are movable to the optimum location for every wave. This is not a fun way to play but it is much more effective than using THULs or Pulsars.
3 or 4 Basic Lasers seems to kill as many ships as a maxed THUL which costs 8x as much, and a maxed Pulsar barely outperforms one Basic Laser, never mind the 5 that you can build for the same cast. There are other factors as well, like Lasers store energy and THULs draw continuosly, so lasers win that one too.
I think Basic Lasers need to do much less damage, fire slower, not get everything back when you recycle, AND each upgrade level for the higher lasers needs to be bumped.
I haven’t really analyzed the other structures but this problem does seem to be inherent in some of them as well.

Such a perfect game. I played yesterday 4 hours and today 5 until I won the last battle of the missions. Highly addictive tower defence game. I sincerely recommend this game.
